She is confident and experienced in supporting mothers and their partners to have their most positive birth experience - at home or in hospital, free of judgment. DONA Certified Birth Doula, CD(DONA)
I am self employed, therefore, I do not work for doctors or midwives, I work for you! Ever since I was a little girl, I have been fascinated by birth and babies. When I was 5, my mother was pregnant with my brother and it was a daily routine for me to study the picture books she had on the subject. I have 2 boys of my own now - one born in hospital, one born at home. I devoured books on pregnancy and birth and before having my second, knew that I would someday become a doula. I found my births to be incredibly empowering and exhilarating; I felt strong and capable, and want to help other women to feel the same - in whatever way they envision themselves birthing. I am proud to be trained and certified by DONA International. Training included physiology of pregnancy, labour and birth; pain management techniques; supporting mother's and their partners in the emotional aspects of pregnancy and birth; meeting needs in the early postpartum weeks; and breastfeeding support. I have experience with, and am comfortable, supporting mothers and their partners in both hospital and home settings. I am open and welcoming to all expectant parents, including LGBTQ and teens.
Not only is it my personal goal to maintain your well-being and privacy throughout our time together, it is required by DONA’s certification standards to conduct my professional doula services in the utmost confidential and ethical manner. This continues even after you are no longer in need of my services. I have been an Early Childhood Educator since 2002 with extensive experience supporting and guiding families of young children according to their needs. Currently, I am a Strong Start program facilitator, a recording and performing artist, and a doula! Birth is a powerful, life-changing event in your life. I am in awe of women's strength and natural birthing instincts during labour and birth. My goals as your doula are to help you and your birth partner tap into your strengths, to nurture you, to encourage you, and to help you achieve your most desired and positive birth experience possible; leaving you feeling supported, listened to, and empowered.
