- As doulas, we views birth as a natural biological process that typically unfolds best when undisturbed, and we primarily focus on nurturing you and your environment, to support that process. That said, we work with families in their full spectrum of birth arrangements and choices, based on each family's unique philosophies, goals and choices.
Service Checklist:
Postpartum Support
After the excitement and preparations for birth, comes the adventure of integrating your newborn into your life! There are many transitions that come in these first few days: your uterus shrinks at a rapid rate, your breasts become engorged as lactation begins, your vagina heals from the stretching of birth, your kidneys and liver are now processing a sudden and large influx of hormones, and it is a time to adjust to a new sleep pattern.
Between 3-10 days after you give birth I will come to your home for two postpartum visits. During these visits we discuss your birth experience, provide postpartum resources, address any concerns and/or questions and present you with your birth timeline and photos. To learn more about what we share postpartum, visit our page Postpartum Doula Services.
